When you live in a small town, your options for many things, like dining out can be rather limited. Fortunately, for the residents of Arnegard, John and Kalli Marin saw this limitation as an opportunity to provide what was missing.
The Marins began by opening up Kalli.co Cafe at the former Arnegard Cafe, but they didn’t stop there. In addition to the cafe, the couple has opened the Full Throttle Grille and the PDQ Supper Club, all in Arnegard.
“John and I both have backgrounds in cooking and serving,” says Kalli. “We enjoy giving the public what they want; good food in a clean and friendly atmosphere.”
Formerly from Sidney, Mont. the Marins saw this opportunity in Arnegard and decided to relocate there with their children.
“We really like Arnegard and we’re happy to be able to offer our services here,” adds Kalli. “John is very passionate about cooking and he does most of it while I do the serving.”
One family running three restaurants may lead you to believe that they are all alike, but for the Marins that isn’t the case at all.
“Each place has its own unique atmosphere and menu items,” comments Kalli.
The Kalli.co Cafe offers a family dining atmosphere with European country decor. The menu consists of many breakfast items from a huge portion of Chicken Fried Steak to the omelet of your choice, including one that you choose the ingredients. They begin serving lunch at 11 a.m. and when they say lunch they don’t mean a light lunch, especially if you order the Kalli.co Club Burger which consists of a club sandwich and a cheese burger all in one.
If you’re worried about the size of your meal, you’ll want to be sure to read the top of the menu as John suggests buying new pants rather than watching your waistline.
In addition to the Kalli.co, the Full Throttle Grille has been opened up at the PDQ Bar.
“The Full Throttle Grille offers an upscale bar menu,” says Kalli. “We offer many appetizers, burgers and our wonderful oven-roasted grinders.”
If you’re looking for a great evening meal and you don’t want the bar atmosphere, then the PDQ Supper Club, the Marins’ newest restaurant is the place to be.
“The PDQ Supper Club has a drastically different menu and atmosphere from the other two establishments,” adds Kalli. “It’s decorated in an art gallery theme with an elegant night out atmosphere.”
The PDQ Supper Club boasts of elegance beyond compare featuring gourmet selections from the West Coast along with the traditional North Dakota fare.
“We will be serving a 24 oz. porterhouse, something we haven’t seen anywhere around here,” says Kalli. “The PDQ will also have a large selection of seafood including salmon, crab legs, walleye and halibut. The menu really is unlike anything else in the area.”
If you’re interested in the PDQ Supper Club’s dining experience, but you’re not a fan of gourmet food, the menu will also include a limited selection of burgers and oven-roasted grinders.
Whether you’re looking for breakfast or an evening out, the Marins say Arnegard is the place to be.
The Kalli.Co Cafe is open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and The Full Throttle Grille and PDQ Supper Club are open Monday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
