County holds 55th annual fair this week

McKenzie County will “Lasso Some Fun” during the 55th Annual McKenzie County Fair on Thursday, July 10 through Saturday, July 12, at the McKenzie County Fairgrounds in Watford City.
Entertainment highlights include the Funtime Carnival, Curly’s Funtastic Kid Zone, a Free Beef Barbecue, the Olaf Leiseth Jr. Memorial Draft Horse Competition, the Demolition Derby, 4-H Livestock Sale, the NDRA Rodeo and the Youth & Lil’ Buckaroo Rodeos.
The Farthest Edge, a band from Billings, Mont., will rock the fairgrounds stage on Friday and DJ K-Hook will take over the music entertainment on Saturday night.
This family-friendly weekend will feature entertainment for all ages.
A McKenzie County Fair Parade will proceed down Main Street at 4 p.m. on Thursday. The Free Beef Barbecue will follow, at 5:30 p.m.
The carnival will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, along with Curly’s Funtastic Kid Zone.
The Olaf Leiseth Jr. Memorial Draft Horse Competition will kick off at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the rodeo arena.
At 6 p.m. on Friday, the Demolition Derby will begin. And the band, The Farthest Edge,  will begin playing at 9 p.m. on the stage at the fairgrounds.
The Youth Rodeo will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, with the NDRA Rodeo Slack at 1 p.m., and the NDRA Rodeo at 6 p.m.
Commercial exhibitors will close at 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
General Admission is $5 for a button, which is good for all three days. Demolition Derby and NDRA Rodeo tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for ages six through 13.
Carnival tickets are $18 each, which is unlimited rides all day long.
All tickets may be purchased at McKenzie County Bank, BNC National Bank, First International Bank & Trust, Dakota West Credit Union, and Saddle Up.
