Stores stocked for busy shopping season

With crazy traffic and an ever increasing population, Watford City businesses have been doing their best to make sure area consumers do not feel like they have to leave the area or order online to find what they are looking for.
Josslyn Finck states that Barrett Pharmacy & Variety has tried to focus on kids in their holiday ordering, while stocking a variety of gifts that men and women of all ages will want.
“It is so fun ordering this year for Christmas,” states Finck. “There are so many things that I would have never thought to order that we are bringing in this year.”
Particularly, the Disney Cookie Jars, according to Finck. In addition, Finck states they carry the Woodwick Candles, Leanin’ Tree cards, which is a western line of greeting cards, fabrics and home decor.
“We also have a ton of toys, including Melissa & Doug, Mattel and Hasbro,” states Finck. “A lot of people aren’t able to shop out of town this year, so hopefully, they will find what they want locally,”
Likewise, Larsen Service Drug has maximized their shelf space to make room for their large selection of holiday gift items.
“We have a fabulous selection of toys, which are a big category around Christmastime,” states Debbie Larsen of Larsen Service Drug.
Along with toys, Larsen states that the store will stock designer fragrances for men and women, candles, home decor, and board games.
“Board games are always a family favorite, so we try to stock up on those,” states Larsen. “Home decor also seems to be a big seller around the holidays, because oftentimes people want to buy something for their home while they are Christmas shopping.”
Larsen states that Larsen Service Drug has a wide selection of items for men, women and children, and they have tried to order more items in anticipation of the increased population’s holiday needs.
While Meyer’s Department Store does not carry toys or items for the home, shoppers just might find the perfect outfit or accessory for the man, woman or child on their list.
“With the addition of the men’s room, we have more inventory for men, as well as women and children,” states Beth Veeder, owner of Meyer’s Department Store.
For men, Veeder states the store will carry FR outerwear, gloves, including FR gloves, Baffin boots for cold weather, Under Armour for men and Under Armour base wear.
Meyer’s Department Store will also have novelty vests and jackets embroidered with Watford City and North Dakota.
“For women we have tights to go with several new styles of dresses, Aussie Dogs boots, jewelry, scarves, gloves, purses and wallets,” states Veeder. “There is a large variety of sweaters for gifts or to dress up a holiday outfit and we just got in a large shipment of inventory for people to come in and check out.”
On Watford City’s Main Street, consumers can also find clothing and accessories for men, women and children at Saddle Up Western Wear and guns, ammunition and cell phones and cell phone accessories at Big Boy’ s Toys Guns & Ammo.
During the Holiday Season a lot of Main Street businesses have also adjusted their hours to suit the working consumer.
Starting Dec. 3, Barrett’s, Larsen’s and Meyer’s will all be open until 7 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. And, starting Dec. 8, they will be open on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Many Main Street businesses will also offer free gift wrapping for their customers.
Though Christmas is a crazy time, Watford City’s Main Street businesses have worked hard to stock what the local shopper is looking to buy and take the hassle out of holiday shopping.
